Ten Commandments, 7: Do Not Commit Adultery 第七誡:不可姦淫

Question: what is adultery?
Silly answer: Something that adults do
表面上 adultery 似乎與 adult(成人)相關。

Actually, adultery is related to adulterate: to add something to food or drink to make it less pure. Adultery is similar: adding an outside person to a marriage, this making it less pure, a violation of the 7th Commandment.
事實上 adultery 和 adulterate(摻雜使品質變劣)有點類似:加入第三者使婚姻變得脆弱。

Deliberately violating the 7th Commandment is having serious consequences for Western society: destruction of the family, the basis of social stability.

A quote from the transcript:

There is an old joke about The Seventh Commandment, “Do Not Commit Adultery.”  Moses comes down from Mount Sinai, and announces:  “I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I got Him down to ten. The bad news is that adultery stays.”

The joke is telling. The prohibition on a married person having sexual relations with anyone except his or her spouse may be, for many people, the most consistently difficult of the Ten Commandments to observe.  The reasons shouldn’t be hard to guess.
Note 1: "The good news is ... bad news is ..." is a common formula for telling jokes in English.
Note 2: Prager says the joke is telling. Here, telling means that it reveals something that might not be obvious.
