Stress Rule for Words Borrowed from Latin

Two-syllable nouns are usually stressed on the 1st syllable

Two-syllable verbs are usually stressed on the 2nd syllable

This rule works most of the time, so don’t waste your time remembering the stress for every word in English. Only memorize the exceptions.
