Your First Composition: Talk About Yourself (Spoken)

Your spoken self-introduction should last three to four minutes.

Section by Section

(1) Beginning of your speech: Name and age, where you're from, which year and department you're in (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior: Applied English Studies Department) and (maybe) a summary of what is in Section Two

(2) The main part of your speech (the most interesting details: these are things that make you different from other people)

(3) The conclusion (summary of what you just said)

How to Practice Speaking:

The first few times, you can practice in front of a full-length mirror. Be sure to observe your body language. You can use a cellphone to record yourself and remind you of the time (3~4 minutes).

After you feel more confident, practice in front of your dog or a baby (borrow one from a friend or a neighbor, if necessary). Dogs and babies probably won't criticize you or laugh at your mistakes, but if they walk away or fall asleep, you probably need to improve ;-)
